Gale Warning, Small Craft Advisory
Statement as of 3:04 PM CDT on October 31, 2014

...Gale Warning in effect until 6 am CDT Saturday... ...Small Craft Advisory now in effect from 6 am to 7 PM CDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Gale Warning...which is in effect until 6 am CDT Saturday.

* Winds...north winds will rise to 25 to 35 knots with higher gusts approaching 40 knots this evening and overnight...then ease to 20 to 25 knots on Saturday.

* Waves/seas...3 to 6 feet waves in the tidal lakes and sounds. Seas 6 to 10 feet with a few waves as high as 13 feet tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
