Synopsis For Keys Coastal Waters From Ocean Reef To Dry Tortugas
Synopsis
The combination of a strong high pressure ridge over the western North Atlantic and lower pressures over the Gulf of Mexico will maintain strong and gusty east to southeast breezes across most of the waters adjoining the Florida Keys tonight. Breezes will begin to slacken later tonight...with further slackening on Tuesday. A cold front will approach the Florida Keys sometime Wednesday or Wednesday night...passing through the Keys probably by early Thursday. Winds likely will shift northwest in the wake of this front...turning northerly by Friday and Saturday. The approximate shoreward edge of the Gulf Stream as of November 9... 35 nm south of Dry Tortugas light...on Loggerhead Key. 32 nm south of Cosgrove Shoal light...off the Marquesas Keys. 13 nm south of Sand Key light...off Key West. 4 nm south of Looe Key...off Big Pine Key. 6 nm south of Sombrero Key light...off Marathon. 2 nm southeast of Alligator Reef light...off Islamorada. 2 nm southeast of Molasses Reef light...off Key Largo. 2 nm east of Carysfort Reef light...off Ocean Reef. Southeast winds near 20 knots...decreasing to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Seas beyond the reef 7 to 10 feet... subsiding to 5 to 7 feet in the afternoon. Seas inside the reef 2 to 3 feet. Nearshore waters rough...becoming choppy. Scattered showers.

Southeast to south winds near 15 knots...becoming south to southwest late. Seas beyond the reef 4 to 6 feet. Seas inside the reef around 2 feet. Nearshore waters a moderate chop. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Wednesday
Southwest winds 10 to 15 knots...becoming west in the afternoon. Seas beyond the reef 3 to 5 feet. Seas inside the reef 1 to 2 feet. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
