ice forecasts for the Great Lakes issued by Environment Canada at 12:00 p.M. EST Saturday 11 February 2012 for today tonight and Sunday. The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 12:00 p.M. Sunday.

Western Lake Superior. Open water except 9 tenths of New Lake ice including 2 tenths of thin lake ice along the southern shore. 2 tenths of medium lake ice in Thunder Bay and between Pie Island and Isle Royale except consolidated medium lake ice along the western shore and the northeast section of Thunder Bay.

Eastern Lake Superior. Open water except 5 tenths of New Lake ice along portion of the southern shore.

Whitefish Bay. Open water except 9 tenths of New Lake ice along the southwestern shore. Consolidated medium lake ice in shallow bays over the Eastern Shore.

Northern Lake Huron. Open water except 9 tenths of New Lake ice along portions of the shore. 9 tenths of medium lake ice southwest of Bois Blanc Island and east of The Straits of Mackinac.

Southern Lake Huron. Open water except 9 tenths of New Lake ice along portions of the shore. Over Saginaw Bay 9 tenths of New Lake ice including 3 tenths of medium lake ice over the western section except consolidated medium lake ice over the eastern section.

North Channel. 6 tenths of New Lake ice except 9 to 10 tenths of thin lake ice including 4 tenths of medium lake ice over the eastern section. Consolidated medium lake ice in shallow bays and in St. Marys River.

Northern Georgian Bay. Open water except 8 tenths of New Lake ice including 3 tenths of medium lake ice within 15 miles of the northeastern shore. Consolidated medium lake ice in sheltered bays.

Southern Georgian Bay. Open water except 8 tenths of New Lake ice including 2 tenths of medium lake ice within 15 miles of the northeastern shore over the northwestern section. Consolidated medium lake ice in sheltered Bays.

Lake St. Clair. Open water except consolidated medium lake ice along the Eastern Shore.

Lake Erie. Open water except 5 tenths of thin lake ice between point pelee and pelee Island.

Lake Ontario. Open water except consolidated medium lake ice in Bay of Quinte and in some sheltered bays along the Eastern Shore.

Northern Lake Michigan. Open water except consolidated medium lake ice along the Eastern Shore from The Straits of Mackinac to Sturgeon Bay Point and along the northeastern shores. 9 tenths of thin lake ice including 3 tenths of medium lake ice in The Straits of Mackinac and along the northern shore east of Seul Choix Pt.

Southern Lake Michigan. Open water.

Green Bay. Ice pressure warning in effect. Consolidated medium lake ice in the bays de noc and in the extreme southern section of the Bay. 9 tenths of medium lake ice south of Chambers Island and along the Door Peninsula and Washington Island. 9 to 10 tenths of New Lake ice including 3 tenths of thin lake ice elsewhere in the Bay. Strong ice pressure in the pack ice south of Chambers Island persisting today until Sunday morning.
