Close-up: Inside River Ice

Niskayuna, NY (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: As the frozen Mohawk River breaks up intermittently, these Table-sized slabs of 4-6-inch thick accumulate along the shores. Here I peered sideways into one of those ice slabs. This picture is about 3 inches from top to bottom. Apparently the river ice forms with all kinds of interesting bubbles

Its actually a "ring" bubble, viewed edge-on.

About walcek

Photography has always been a hobby since I saved up babysitting and lawn-mowing earnings for my first SLR back in the 70s as a young kid. I like the random, beautiful things that most overlook in today's hectic pace.
