He/she didn't snap at all - maybe too young? It was so adorable, but we have no idea how it wound up in our yard. No mama and no water nearby. We let the kids keep it one day, but then released it to a preserved nature area pond. Glad you enjoyed the memories!

I've seen these before, as a kid... found them lying on the bottom of slow creeks, looked like dead leaves. Took them home as pets, some snappier than others. Nowadays, I feel differently about snappy turtles, but back then, ... well, thanks for the memories. Cute fellow.
