Caption: Edges of snowbanks are glistening daily under the warmth of the sun. I know we will get some -30s and more snow before winter is over, but there are so many signs that winter's days are numbered.

Thanks Kat and Dave.

Dave, yes I do think the Nenana Ice Classic will be early this year. All the interior rivers have less ice than average, so if spring comes in 'on time' the ice will probably go out a bit early.

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
