Thanks Elaine, and thanks (haha!) Barb! Glad to share my 'other end' of the continent with you!

Barb we are inching (knock on wood) back toward more normal weather today too. 26 below zero last night, and didn't rise above zero for our high today. Glad to have it back. Really!

WOW! An ephemeral snowflake for sure and an absolutely wonderful photograph. Definitely a gift from the Creator sent directly to your glove. Amazing shot.

Love all your pictures from Alaska, so I can experience the frozen north (vicariously, that is). Here in Florida we are in a short upswing after about 7 or 8 cold fronts coming through every other day for the last few weeks and are in the 80s again with humidity (ugh) for a couple of days. You hardy souls have my utmost admiration.

Barb

Thank you Jonk, Timothy and Larry!

Larry it is big as a baseball (not really, but as snowflakes go, it was BIG) maybe almost 3/16? Some flakes were even larger... like a dream-come-true!

Wow this is gorgeous! You're getting very good at this. The fuzzy mitten works perfectly with this jewel, a nice contrast to the snowflake's crystalline structure. The lighting even makes the snowflake appear 3D!

Found this interesting article on snowflakes that you might enjoy as much as I did, though you probably know all this stuff already:

Anyway, thanks for sharing this wonderful photo, and congrats on the AC!

Thank you Joan, trekincat, Jim, Eileen, Duane, calpoppy and Wilma, and THANK YOU approvers!

There were amazing snowflakes, and with the addition of a bit of sunshine, it made for a unique opportunity! I was delighted to see a bit of three-dimensional depth in this flake.

Thank you Wildwoodfarm, you popped in while I was typing, thank you for your comment!

There were only a few flakes floating around, and the sun was also shining, making the snowflakes even more special. The lighting was really nice. I was surprised when I got the pic on the computer, to see the yellowish light. Must be from the sun is all I can think of.

This flake landed on my (very fuzzy) glove, so I had to take it off and lay it down. :)
