Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The Tetlin Jct Ridge fire blew up aggressively out of control on friday evening, whipped to a frenzy by a thundercell approaching from behind.

Firefighters who were on the scene tell me that a powerful vortex was spinning one direction on the ground, the opposite direction in the upper plume. The ground action was so violent, it was ripping up 30-40 foot flaming trees and flinging them high into the air.... THANKFULLY no one was injured in this ferocious natural phenomenon.

About katy99780

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
