Wow, great shot...and I live in Michigan, too, but the temperature here was nowhere near below freezing level to cause ice to build like this.

Update on the outcome of the Ice Garden. Their strategy worked well - other than a few broken branches, all plants and trees seem to have weathered the ice application well. They heard about southern fruit growers doing this to save crops in a hard freeze, and took a gamble and tried it.

The location of the shot was south of Battle Creek, and north of Athens in a little village called East Leroy just east of M66 on K Drive.

Way cool Winter WUnderland image - amazingly beautiful, and hopefully, successful. The ice coated greenery has a special sparkle of its own. Kudos to you on this special find, and your well composed image of the event. Congratulations on the VIP and AC recognition!

They saw the temps were going to drop into 'deep freeze' levels and in an attempt to save them turned the sprinklers on - like they do in Florida for the orange trees, with the hope that the ice will insulate. Then the winds picked up and temps dropped even lower - so sideways ice! Time will tell if this works. Looked like a Winter Wonderland this morning. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time with my camera.

Boy, I'll say! Was it an ice storm or were the sprinklers turned on on purpose to try to protect the plants? Hope they're all OK. Congrats on the AC and VIP!
