These are just across the road from where we live.To all D.H.Lawrence fans, this is the coal mine his father and uncles worked and where he based his books on,ie.Sons and Lovers,The Rainbow and of course Lady Chatterleys Lover amongst others. He was born and lived his early life in Eastwood,Nottinghshire which is just down the road. There has been a coal mine here since 1800s and the closed in 1934 but was still used to connect to other local mines before they all closed in the 1980s.
