I'm glad to see that a few make it after watching only one youngster survive out of 2 nests and seven eggs. That one youngster was up and running around while the other egg in the nest hadn't hatched. The mother jumped up and ran off with her "poor me, I broke my wing" routine and knocked it out of the nest. It rolled on the gravel in a tiny ball and never moved, looking just like a clod of dirt. Later it was up and running with mom in the grass. Nature is so interesting to watch.

About Nikongranny

Old, retired with lots of time on my hands and a Nikon. Lucky for me, there is a park just north of town that provides me with migrating birds and sunsets. Since joining this site, I have a new appreciation for this scenic world we live in. I especially love the comments from so many great people on here.
