Over NE Ohio, NW PA, see http://www.myvalleyweather.com/content/news/story/ Night-Sky-Phenomenon-Seen-All-Over-Area/cRp9xG3d30 a5dFjkCNxhng.cspx

Too many trees, only saw a dim glow from the back yard. Really nice stars, though.

Thanks for sharing your stunning photo!

I stepped out the door last night here in south central MO to gawk at the stars and saw this huge red haze off to the north. Thought it might be the reflection of a fire and called the farmer to come see. He dismissed it as a bit of late sunset and hustled back inside! Well, 8:30 p.m. in October is way too long after sunset for something like that. Later found out what the phenomenon was on our local news.

In my sixty-four years I've only once seen northern lights over a remote lake in the Massachusetts Berkshires. Those were small, pale, pink-whitish-green--these mid-western red were prodigious!
