Thank you much for your great comment mindi.
This is not Volcanic rock as far as I know. The rocks along the Rio Grande are predominantly Reddish in color.
The ones at the bottom & near the water like this big one are Black, and as far as I know is account of at times being in the water, from Eons back. The white line is in more recent times of high water.

LOL Do we have to dub you Father Goose now???? I am so delighted Gil that you found some fun subjects to photograph while you were out and about!!! Congratulations!!! That's an interesting rock too btw! Looks like volanic material...which I imagine it probably is in that area?? I'm no geologist,,just love the study of rocks and minerals! Makes for a great accent to your geese in the crystal [cold?] water!!:))
