The stars of Route 66
Uploaded by: darnold
Wednesday June 9, 2010
Caption: The remains of a Whiting Brothers sign on old Route 66, San Fidel, New Mexico under the star trails of the New Mexico sky on a moonless night. Whiting Bros. was a Route 66 icon, having gas station/Motel/stores all up and down the Mother Road during Route 66's heyday. While you travel along 66, you can still see the remains of many of them. This shoot commenced at 10:45 PM on June 9 and ended 2 hours later on June 10 with a total of 223 thirty-second shots (combined by layering) on a moonless night with the blackest of skies.
