Caption: There has been a herd of deer hanging around. Here, a doe and two bucks pose on a hillside. This cropped photo is the best I can do without a telephoto lens, which is on my wish list!

Thanks, Maxine; we see deer here all the time, but I can't do a very good job with them because of not having a telephoto lens. I've heard about a sickness among deer here, but have not noticed any thinning of the herds. I see deer on my property, or in the farm field above it, as here, almost every day. A bit unusual to see bucks, though; they will become scarcer when hunting season begins.

I'm no longer able to get out to my bus blind and shoot deer and I really miss that. Last year was a rough year for deer in this area, a sickness claimed many. We don't see the big herds grazing in the fields, or have to dodge them on the back roads like in years past. 10 from deer loving Granny from SW Iowa
