Heaven's richer...

Caption: Earth's poorer. My Mom passed away. Had her service yesterday. Thots I shared: Ah, the satisfaction of a life well lived. Mom wasn't perfect, but she did the important stuff well. She loved well. She was full of life and vitality. She loved Jesus. I was impressed as a youngster that Mom had a genuine relationship with Jesus. It wasn't just a belief system. She knew Jesus and loved Jesus. She talked to Jesus. On several occasions I remember finding her in deep, deep prayer. That made a real impression on me. I remember when I was a little 4 yr old, I realized I had a sin problem. That's not what I called it at that age, but I knew. Kids know these things. It doesn't take a theological degree... Anyway, Mom found me crying. She gently led me in a prayer to give my life to Jesus, and that night I became one of God's kids. So, Mom birthed me twice! When I was born, and when I was born again! Like I said, she did the important stuff well! So, I was asking my dear, dear friend Jesus, who Mom introduced me to, what His thoughts were on this occasion. And the thing that occurred to me is just this sweet sense that this parting is SO TEMPORARY! This life is SO short, and we'll be seeing Mom again SO soon! That's the good thing about an occasion like this. It reminds us of the brevity of this life and how we have all of eternity to look forward to, in the bliss of Heaven, with Jesus and all our dear ones who have gone on before! Death is just a passage into a far greater realm of life. Heaven is such an awesome place! God gives us glimpses of it, but wisely doesn't tell us too much, or we'd have a hard time sticking it out down here in the shadow lands, as CS Lewis calls this life. Meanwhile, how urgent it is that we live this brief life here in light of eternity! We only have this little bitty chance to put our hand in God's and learn to live the life He has planned for us. To learn to walk in His love, to learn to agree with Him and believe Him and trust Him fearlessly, to learn the thrill of being completely yielded to Him every hour of every day, to taste and see that the Lord is Good! How blessed – how happy we are who trust in Him! So, Mom, just in case you have a ringside seat here, thanks for starting me out on the path of life! I'm so proud of you and so looking forward to seeing you again soon!

About spiritjoy

After my dear mother passed away in February of 2012, I sensed God had a new assignment for our family. So, in August of 2012 we moved from Mount Vernon, Washington, to Kalispell, Montana. What a delight to explore our new home! God's mercies and kindness and love truly are new every morning! Joyce
