American Falls, ID (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: In 1925 during the construction of the American Falls Dam on the Snake River the town of American Falls was moved to a higher location to make way for the new reservoir. The new reservoir would supply irrigation water to a vast area in the Snake River Plain. High summer temperatures during drought years increase the need for irrigation water causing the reservoir level to drop exposing the foundations of the original townsite. The grain elevator was left as a landmark.
