Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This rose is from a plant in my Mother's garden in Minnesota. As a young bride she got it from an abandoned homestead near her house, where a German couple from Chicago had planted it around 1900. We don't know it's variety, but it has a really heady heavenly fragrance. It does not bloom well in my Tok Alaska garden but it has survived our winters that routinely get down to -60's and -70's. This rose reminds me of her, it is a tough and lovely as she was.

About katy99780

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
