Shrinking Pond

Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Combination of very little precip (snow) and the ground not yet frozen is making ponds shrink. Not unusual, it happens every autumn. But we usually have a foot of snow by now, and the ground would be frozen quite deep. There is a thick glaze of ice on the newly exposed beaches from recent ice storm, freezing rain.

I think for photos Carl, I like autumn and winter best. This 'in-between-$**t' though, is difficult!

Beauty! I think my best photos have snow in them even though I hate winter, do you have a preference in yours?

About katy99780

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
