Ice Fog at -53

Uploaded by: katy99780

Monday January 28, 2013

Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Cold, still air, and at 53 degrees below zero, every breath, all the car exhaust, every bit of chimney smoke hangs unmoving in the air. Sometimes you can see car exhaust go tinkling and sparkling to the ground as the moisture in it freezes, right out of the vehicle's tailpipe.

When I saw the caption ("Ice Fog at -53") in the thumbnail, I knew it had to be yours. At least you didn't have wind to go along with that frigid temp. Come on down to Augusta, GA, where we tied a record high Tuesday, with 80 degrees.

That is the greatest picture. I remember -40 wind chills but -53 way to cold open your mouth and ice falls to ground, iced eye brows, don't see how you use your camera, remote in you pocket maybe

Thank you Randall and Barb!

Barb I don't linger long, and the only thing that happens to the camera is... the photographer's nose gets cold! :)

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
