Thanks for all your kind comments! He's been safely hanging out in the garden, or in the woods behind the house. However, last week my neighbor saw him in the middle of the street, moved him to my yard, and noticed there was another one. So hopefully, there's a male and a female:)

We see these critters a lot in our neck of the woods. In our case, I hope the chain link keeps them OUT; they are much less likely to get run over by the lawn mower on the outside of the fence. Nice job with this photo! I've always heard that red eyes mean a male turtle and brown ones a female; don't know if that is really so.
