Thanks for all the great comments, and for the blue!

This was taken from my boat - a 3' patch of water just offshore. There's some little bushes and then oak tree trunks glowing in the late sun, their bark accentuated. The rest of the background is a mix of shadow, pine trees, and bits of sky.

About isight

Living on Cape Cod in this beautiful spot, trying to notice what the days have to offer, playing along with life as it unfolds, celebrating the wonder of it all. I explore and experiment with the camera, trying to see more than the obvious, looking for fascinating details, unusual subjects, novel views, the overlooked, and the borderline abstract. I love the process - shooting gets me to look, and looking gets me to shoot. Really, looking gets me to see - to observe, notice, pay attention, grow curious, and learn the ways and patterns and rhythms of my surroundings. Beyond light - the given - within and without - I'm fascinated by water - drops, ripples, waves, reflections, distortions, ice - and the life around me, and fascinated by how we make sense of what we see, or not. Through the camera it's about how it looks more than what it is. Play with it! This is a great site - enthusiastic, appreciative, and inspiring - a place to enjoy beautiful photos, learn about people, places, and things, make friends, and learn about photography at one's own pace (while motivated by the one week time constraint). Without this site and the encouragement of many members, I wouldn't have kept at it, and I'm forever grateful. Most of all, I learned here that photos are a way to communicate not just what I see, but perhaps how I see. I've gotten comments from people worldwide saying an image somehow touched their lives - a moment of beauty, a chuckle, a new idea - and I still find that awesome, and humbling.
