thanks for your interest!This is Riga Gulf of the Baltic Sea with a slightly salt water. The sandy beach is covered with snow and waves created such icy formations before all the Gulf frozen over. At -15C it will be soon.

Is this a fresh water lake, or salt water? If salt, I am wondering why there is no unfrozen tide line. Is it because it is so cold that even the salty sand freezes very quickly?
I will check back for an answer.
