Sunset of two Fathers...

Elba, AL (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: God my Heavenly Father's glorious sunset and sky; and the barren tree in the left of the photo is a crabappletree my Daddy planted in 1969, while he and my mother were having their first and dream home built. I dedicate this photo to my father who was stricken with dementia in 2007, he is bedridden, but still eats and will answer yes, no and good. He knows each one of us still, but can't speak our names, but when he hears our name or voice he sheds tears of joy, knowing who we are and there.

Mike, That's wonderful that you were able to sing for your best friend's dad's funeral! And I'm sorry about the two who didn't understand. It seems sometimes like no matter what you do, somebody is going to be offended. And we don't want to be insensitive to them, but really, only one opinion counts. I look into Jesus' face and say, "It was for You, Jesus. What do You think?" And then to see Him smile and sense Him saying "Well done--you make Me so happy!" That steadies me alot when others don't understand. --Joyce

Joyce, your words are like fresh spring water, and I agree that God has already conquered death and its sting. Sad as it may be when a loved one passes on or a friend also, I try to be postive with sympathy as much as possible. If I may, I'd like to share a time in my life that I was asked to sing at my best friend from High School's fathers's funeral and the song was by BJ Thomas "Home where I Belong", it speaks of the joy coming as he heads to his eternal home. I agreed to honor my friends request and more so, his father and I had served in the same missions teams on 2 Hondura mission trips and became very close. It was an honor and the respectful thing to do for my brother in Christ. A long story short, a couple of his children, my friends brother and a sister, were upset about singing a song at their father's funeral about going home where he belongs; through this issue, God layed much upon me, that was all for the purpose of me to understand his purpose for me, which is really all that matters when it comes to each person's decision about their salvation. I was on the mountaintop right after the funeral because I was happy for my brother, but a couple of days later I was in the Valley for what seemed like forever. I thank God for those valleys, for if not, their would be no real appreciation and meaning to the mountaintop. He restoreth my soul... Sorry for the long book, but it's wonderful to share with others who love our God.

Mike- thank you for your comment on my recent photo... Yes, it's tough to watch our loved ones decline and die. I was so glad, though, to have the opportunity to lavish them with love during those tough days! And how happy it makes God feel, when we can be His hands and heart, loving His dear ones! And I'm also comforted to know Jesus walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and He overcame death. In Him, death has lost it's sting! So, even when that day comes for our loved ones, what a comfort to know that in Christ, the separation, though painful, is only temporary.

Mike, my heart is breaking for you and your Dad. I pray our Lord and Savior cradles your Dad in His strong and comforting arms. Even though your Dad doesn't speak much, God has blessed you all by giving him the ability to recognize you all and you can feel the love he shows you through his tears. God bless you all! The photo is truly s gorgeous tribute. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Katy. Your words are filled with love and compassion, for this I thank you and God for placing you in the paths of those who need encouraging. Honestly, I hope this does not get an AC. It was that moment that drew me to shoot this and dedicate it. God Bless
