They came along quite suddenly!
I had stayed up on the off chance of seeing them, looked for them from the back garden just before 3am didn't see them but looking just after 3 they were there!
Thanks to all who liked/ commented & to the approvers for AC.

NLC - noctilucent clouds - see As they explain, "NLCs are Earth's highest clouds. Seeded by "meteor smoke," they form at the edge of space 83 km above Earth's surface. When sunlight hits the tiny ice crystals that make up these clouds, they glow electric blue." Most years they are not very common, but this summer, Western Europe has seen quite a few of them. I'm hoping that sometime they will be visible here in the northern US.

About WurzelDave

I'm a 'wurzel' who lives in South West England (UK) in the county of Somerset (next to Devon), famous for scrumpy cider, Cheddar cheese, The Wurzels (well worth going to see) & birth county of 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button.Like the rest of the West Country, Somerset has many areas, places & landscapes worth a visit such as Glastonbury Tor & Abbey ruins, Quantock hills, West Somerset Railway, Cheddar Gorge, & Exmoor, to name but a very few.Favourite holiday destiations are Iceland (see alot of photos) & the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi Sweden (also see photos). Still a lover of the flim camera, my first camera was an Halina 110 camera which you could buy flip flashes for! I have a Canon 3000V SLR film camera, also have some TLR cameras from the 1950's plus Canon powershot A3300, SX150 & SX40 digital cameras which are useful for close up macro shots & also makes film 'last' longer! I also have a variety of film cameras (35mm, stereo, 110, 120 format) dating from 1940 upwards. Photos from these cameras will appear here from time to time
