Thank you all for commenting and thank you approvers for the blue border.

The Highway department plants lots of flowers along the road in the country on 4 lane roads. They don't have to mow them like grass.

Interesting, interesting.  I was sure the photo was taken in Europe.  But in Europe the poppies are a pest plant. One man said "you can tell a  poor farmer because he lets the poppies spread all over his farm." But still I loved them even if the farmers did not. Wouldn't it be awful if this happened here? Pretty, but awful. They'd have to spray the fields to get rid of them. I hope I am wrong about this.

Great capture! Beautiful field of flowers! It is funny - that is what they did when we were children and then they went to perfectly green grass beside roadways and in the last ten to twenty years or more have reverted back to beautiful flowers by roadways. I remember as a child not only did the flowers just like this flock the roadways but spread into our planting fields close to the roadway. It was our job to pull those up as were like weeds in the cornfield or whatever. It took years and years to finally get rid of them as they would come back every year. Very Pretty Roadside Flowers in Your Photo!

a poem which fits this gorgeous AC Gary is the famous one by John McCrae:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

this is one beautiful capture!! congrats :)

Such a beautiful field of flowers.
Great shot.

Years ago they planted flower seeds along a section of the I-405 corridor by mistake and cars would pull over to take pictures. It became quite a problem and was replanted in grass. I regretted not stopping my self for some pictures.

Yes! These are an amazing burst of color on the highways - absolutely love to see what Lady Bird inspired so many years ago. Fabulous image, Gary!
