Independence, CA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Manzanar War Relocation Center in the Owens Valley of California, just on the eastern side of the Sierra Mountains. Earlier sunshine had rapidly given way to incoming clouds and eventual sprinkles. It seemed to set the tone for our visit to the internment camp of the Japanese in WWII.

Beautiful photo. I have been here so many times, and listened to the film and walked through the visitors center. Hope you had the chance to do that too. Did you take the car tour through the site? Not a whole lot to see, but a memorial at the far end. Looks like that might have been where this photo was taken.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful place, with haunting memories for some. Know a family who was here; hard to believe it happened in the USA, but it did. Thanks for sharing.

I knew I loved this one right away. Then I scrolled down to see a blue frame around it. Good for you!

(I always thought a photo had to be less than 24 hours old to get an AC. Glad I was wrong.)

About PugetSoundPost

My husband and I, along with our four kids in college and beyond live in western Washington, but we like to venture further afield when time permits. We have enjoyed photography wherever we have gone and hope to add a little new perspective to any who may stop by to enjoy a bit of our journeys. We appreciate your interest and comments! Weather is also a passion of mine, so please drop by my blog for my musings about our weather here in the Puget Sound region!
