Thank you all so much. The Kingfisher obliged for at least half an hour so I was able to get lots of different shots. Even captured him repeatedly stunning his catch of fish thanks to the burst shooting facility on the camera.

Brilliant shot. Your kingfisher's colouring is quite different from ours. As NZ Bird's web site says, "The species Halcyon sanctus is found in New Guinea, Australia, Tasmania, New Caledonia, the Solomon, Kermadec, Lord Howe, Norfolk and Loyalty Islands. The New Zealand sub-species, vagans, is distinguished from the Australian sub-species by its larger size and broader bill and generally by the distinctiveness of its green and blue colours."
