Great shot. We had three nests going; six flew away from one nest but only one survived from the other two. I always think the chicks look kind of grumpy.

Thanks, Linda, for your comment on my photo. I had clicked on these swallows yesterday because they are swift and beautiful. I like your comment #8, and am glad you can now appreciate them. Can you also hear their contact calls? High-pitched. And noticed the way the sun shines on their steely blue color?

Adorble. Maybe they'll come back next year and have their own. Glad to see they survived and are healthy.

Thanks very much for your lovely visit and great comments, Kat! You are ever eloquent and I love how you phrased your remarks. Years and years ago, I actually had a distaste for Swallows, though I tolerated them. I thought my lawn furniture and their gifting it with lots of "poop" outweighed the joy of their presence and getting to observe the wonder of their lives. Glad I've gained a bit of wisdom and perspective over the years. Thanks again, my friend!

They are so beautiful! It is such a gift to
be able to watch birds go from egg to adult!
These beauties come with a built-in bonus..
they eat TONS of mosquitoes, and look so
graceful doing it! Lovely shot, Linda!

Thanks so very much for your LOVELY comments, WeatherWise, Liz and James! I greatly appreciate your taking the time to stop by and your kindness!

You are exactly right, WeatherWise! They are baby Barn Swallows. We have 3 different nests on our patio and front porch. This is the second set of babies in each nest. I have yet to discern whether it's the same parents or new ones.

Great Photo - I predict an AC! Are they barn swallows or actually I should just ask what kind of baby birds are they?
