Belchertown, MA (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The purity of the water supply is closely guarded. This long levee is a protective berm to keep the pollutants from roadways, etc, from entering the water system. The granite structure houses the numerous intake pipes and filters through which the water passes before it enters one of four separate aqueducts which send the water on its way to the municipalities throughout the state. The public is not allowed beyond the walls, although the rest of the reservation is a delightful park for all.
