Explosion in Koroni

Kalamata, Greece

Caption: Our house is almost directly opposite to the ancient Venetian port of Koroni on the Messinian peninsula. As the sun set this evening it looked just as though the Venetians and the Ottomans were staging a rematch of one of their many battles and that someone had blown up the explosives magazine in the fort. I must have been deafened because I am still waiting to hear the bang.

About Granddad

Granddad

We are English, (except our dogs, who are definitely very Greek, having been abandoned strays who took us in out of the kindness of their hearts). We retired to Greece in 2003 to escape the phoney political correctness endemic throughout the Anglo-Saxon world and to mix with some real people again. We live in the Exo-Mani in the extreme South of the Peloponnesus, where the sea and countryside are beautiful and the weather is also less political (i.e. they don't tax sunshine yet). The site provides an opportunity for us to bore the whole world with our snapshots and for which we are duly grateful.
