Redstone Castle

McClure Pass, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Just outside the small town of Redstone is Redstone, Castle. See the first comment for a link to info from Wikipedia. I forget about sometimes, because if you don't look that direction when you drive by, you will miss it among the trees. It is more obvious in Winter, of course, but I forgo McClure Pass and, therefore, this part of the drive in Winter for the most part. I hate seeing all the dead and dying evergreens. The water you see is the Crystal River.

Thanks, Heidrun and Linda! Yes..beetles. They say
we will lose almost every single Ponderosa Pine in
the state. That's sad.

Now I see what you mean about the dead and dying trees -- probably pine bark beetles. They seem to be all over these days.

Quite a place with a lively history.
The location is beautiful, but the dying trees make the place look sad.
Thank you for the interesting info !

About ColoradoKat

I am SO SAD that WU is getting rid of the photography section. This has been the most wonderful outlet for me and my photography and I have met so many awesome people and seen photography that has been amazing on so many levels, because of WU. Thank you for the opportunities you gave us with your site. Man, I will really, really miss this. :-(
