High Country Afternoon

Hotchkiss, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Bud has just been too busy with irrigation and other farm work to go for a ride just so I can take pictures, so I took myself up into the high country. It's nice and green up there. They get more rain than we do at the farm. There are lots of cows roaming around. Some ranchers lease BLM land for summer pasture. I finally drove high enough to get some cooler air. It has been SO hot! I was hoping there would be more wildflowers but I guess I was still too early.

Thanks, Heidrun, Amanda and 104West! I fear you are
right, Amanda, with the kind of heat we have had
already and are forecast to keep having, the green
will soon be a thing of the past. sigh

Enjoy the green. I don't think we'll have it much longer.

Thank you, Delana and Diti! I know this looks kind
of like it could be the flatlands, but this is at
over 8,500 feet in elevation.
