Hotchkiss, CO (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: I took a couple pix from the cemetery on a hill to the West of town, looking East at the downtown Hotchkiss area. Mount Lamborn and Landsend Peak are on the rightand just the tops of the Ragged Mountains, snow covered, peek up just left of center. Highway 92 curves in from the left an the railroad tracks curve in from the right. Just after they cross each other you reach Hotchkiss city limits. Most of the farmland in the foreground still belongs to the Hotchkiss family.

I can tell, looking at this image, that people here genuinely care about the land.

Thanks, Kristina! Different parts of Colorado
have different weather patterns. The mountains,
and the Eastern half of the state is where most
of the snow happens. The part of Colorado West
of the Continental Divide, like Hotchkiss, get
considerably less snow, usually, except in the
mountainous areas. As I type this, it is snowing
here, and the mountains and Eastern Colorado
are getting a BIG snow. We will only get a
couple inches here, while the mountains and the
East half of Colorado are expected to get closer
to a foot (or more).

Thanks, Heidrun! I think Spring will get here
eventually, but we definitely have more Winter
to deal with before that. You are right about the
orchard work. They are busy pruning the fruit
trees now, as weather allows.

I am SO SAD that WU is getting rid of the photography section. This has been the most wonderful outlet for me and my photography and I have met so many awesome people and seen photography that has been amazing on so many levels, because of WU. Thank you for the opportunities you gave us with your site. Man, I will really, really miss this. :-(
