House by the Side of the Road

Westfield, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Nobody has lived here for some time now. It used to be that an elderly couple would come out from town and spend the summer here, but I haven't seen them the last two years or so; I've heard the husband is ill. So is the house, to all appearances.

Thank you, Mary; with a little care I think it could be, if someone would buy it. Not likely, though; there are lots of houses available in this area that are better cared for than this one, and this one isn't even for sale.

Thank you, Chrissy; I have no idea whether the old man is even still alive. I'm sure this was a grand house when it was younger. Someone does keep the grass cut, and there are "no trespassing" signs, so someone is more or less looking out for it.

It's too bad that the couple doesn't come here anymore. I bet this house holds a lot of fond memories. Nice shot Kathy.

The poor old house could use some TLC, Steve, but it IS shady in summer. Good thing, too, because I don't believe it has air conditioning.
