Spittlebug 2

Uploaded by: ChrisAnthemum

Friday May 4, 2012

Westfield, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Hidden in all the foam will be a little green bug, the nymph of the spittlebug, which in its adult form looks rather like a leaf hopper. These live on plant juices, but take so little, and are so few in number (unlike aphids or spider mites) that they can be considered harmless, just one of the marvels of nature.

Thank you, enigmas! Seems like every spring, someone wants to know about these things, so I thought I would post these two pictures and maybe inform a few people.
