Thanks for the comments. The summit road is now paved most of the way...gravel road starts about 1/4 mile above the ranger station but ends a couple miles before the summit where it is again paved.

I see you drove on the bumpy road. We did that years ago not knowing you were not to take a rental car on it. That we found out later but we had no trouble at all.
