Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:10 PM CDT Aug. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas for...
central Burnet County in south central Texas...

* until 415 PM CDT

* at 309 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Overflowing
poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory
area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen with isolated
amounts up to two inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Marble Falls, Burnet, Bertram, Granite Shoals, Horseshoe Bay,
Meadowlakes, Watson, Oatmeal, Briggs, Mahomet, Joppa, Smithwick and
Shady Grove.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
