Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:46 PM MDT Aug. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
central Hudspeth County in southwestern Texas...

* until 545 PM MDT

* at 239 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding
including the low water crossings in the advisory area. Up to one
inch of rain has already fallen as indicated by the radar.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fort Quitman...
and Esperanza.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
