... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 645 PM MDT for
southeastern El Paso County...

At 552 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding near
Indian cliffs ranch across San Felipe Road. Up to two inches of rain
have already fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. Water on
the arroyos is running high, which could lead to more flash
flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fabens...
Indian cliffs ranch...
and Tornillo.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
west central Hudspeth County in southwestern Texas...
southeastern El Paso County in southwestern Texas...

* until 730 PM MDT

* at 526 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of west central
Hudspeth and southeastern El Paso counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Radar estimates up to one inch of rain has
already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has
issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of New Mexico and southwest
Texas, including the following areas, in New Mexico, central
Tularosa basin, east slopes Sacramento Mountains below 7500
feet, eastern Black Range foothills, lowlands of the bootheel,
northern Dona Ana County, Otero Mesa, Sacramento Mountains
above 7500 feet, Sierra County lakes, southern Dona Ana
County/Mesilla Valley, southern Gila foothills/Mimbres valley,
southern Gila Highlands/Black Range, southern Tularosa basin,
southwest desert/lower Gila River valley, southwest
desert/Mimbres basin, uplands of the bootheel, upper Gila
River valley, and west slopes Sacramento Mountains below 7500
feet. In southwest Texas, eastern/central El Paso County,
northern Hudspeth Highlands/Hueco Mountains, Rio Grande Valley
of eastern El Paso/western Hudspeth counties, Rio Grande
Valley of eastern Hudspeth County, Salt Basin, southern
Hudspeth Highlands, and western El Paso County.

* From 6 PM MDT this evening through late tonight

* scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will produce
locally heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding.

* Flooding may close roads and in isolated cases could get into
some buildings. If you witness flooding, immediately move to
higher ground.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
