Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:40 PM EDT Aug. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
north central Washington County in southwestern Pennsylvania...
central Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania...
west central Westmoreland County in southwestern Pennsylvania...

* until 630 PM EDT.

* At 340 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a large area of
thunderstorms and heavy rainfall that will spread back into
northern Washington, central Allegheny and western Westmoreland
counties between 4 and 5 PM. This rainfall, combined with upwards
of an inch of rain that fell several hours ago, will likely
produce localized flooding during the evening rush period,
particularly across urbanized areas. Persons are advised to avoid
typically flood prone areas over the next several hours as heavy
rain spreads back into the greater Pittsburgh area, especially
from Carnegie into the South Hills.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Pittsburgh, Carnegie, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park,
Monroeville, McKeesport, Plum, West Mifflin, north side
Pittsburgh, Baldwin, upper St. Clair and Murrysville.

If conditions warrant, this advisory could be upgraded to a warning.
Stay tuned for the latest information.

Please report flooding by calling 412-262-1988, posting
ioto the NWS Pittsburgh facebook Page, or using twitter at
@nwspittsburgh.
