Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 11:00 PM EDT Aug. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
Litchfield County in northern Connecticut...
Dutchess County in east central New York...

* until 200 am EDT

* at 1058 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to an inch and a half of rain in one hour
is possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bristol, Torrington, Poughkeepsie, New Milford, Beacon, Pawling,
Canton, Pleasant Valley, Thomaston, New Hartford, Wappingers Falls,
Amenia, Kent, Sharon, Pine Plains, Fishkill, Hartland, Red Hook,
Norfolk and Millbrook.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
