Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:30 PM MDT Aug. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
east central Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...

* until 530 PM MDT.

* At 326 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over Portales in northern Roosevelt County. Storms
are repeatedly moving over the Portales area, and this will cause
culverts, low-lying areas, street intersections, and other urban
drainages to flood. Storms with periodic downpours are expected to
continue through 530 PM MDT.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portales.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
