Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 11:35 PM CDT Aug. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 7 am CDT Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Omaha/valley has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Nebraska,
northeast Nebraska, and southeast Nebraska, including the
following areas, in east central Nebraska, Butler and
Saunders. In northeast Nebraska, Colfax and Platte. In
southeast Nebraska, Lancaster, Saline, and Seward.

* Until 7 am CDT Sunday

* continued development of thunderstorms overnight will lead to
several bouts of locally heavy rainfall, with the potential for
2 to 3 inches of rain before sunrise. This amount of rain, in
combination with nearly saturated soils from recent rainfall,
may lead to flash flooding.

* Flood waters are always difficult to see at night. Please use
caution when driving, and never drive through water covering the
Road.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
