Heat Advisory
Issued: 1:44 PM CDT Aug. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Temperature... temperatures in the lower 90s in combination with
dew points in the middle to upper 70s will result in heat
indices ranging from 103 to 108 degrees.

* Impacts... the combination of warm temperatures and high
humidity will result in an increased potential for heat
related illnesses. The very Young, the elderly, and those
without access to air conditioning are at the highest risk.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
