Issued: 12:36 AM CDT Aug. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas
for...
southwestern Adams County in west central Illinois...
northeastern Marion County in northeastern Missouri...

* until 630 am CDT.

* At 1235 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in
the advisory area. 1.50-3.00 inches of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Quincy, Palmyra, Quincy regional Airport, Adams, Burton, Liberty,
Taylor, Columbus, Marblehead, Paloma and Fowler.

Additional rainfall of up to 1-2 inches is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

This includes the following streams and drainages... North River...
South River... north Fabius river... Little Mill Creek... Honey Creek...
lierle creek... Mill Creek... rock and Ursa creek diversion canal...
Curtis creek... mccraney creek... Homan creek... Burton creek... south
Fabius river... durgens creek... lazy branch... McKee creek... tournear
creek... Emery creek... Walker branch and Mississippi River.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
