Air Quality Alert
Issued: 4:45 PM PDT Aug. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Mariposa County air pollution control district has
issued an air quality alert for smoke impacts from the
South Fork wildfire in Mariposa County. This alert
applies to the area in and around the community of Wawona.

This air quality alert is in effect until Monday afternoon,
August 21st.

Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health
problems, aggravate lung disease, cause asthma attacks and
acute bronchitis and increase the risk of respiratory
infections.

Residents are advised to use caution as conditions warrant.
People with existing heart or lung disease should either
leave the area or shelter in place. Sheltering in place
should be considered only if a room free of particle
pollution is available.

Additionally, older adults and children should avoid exposure
including outside activities or heavy exertion as conditions
dictate.

http://www.Mariposacounty.Org/index.Aspx?Nid=1434 or call
