Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:09 AM PDT Aug. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect from 5 PM PDT this
afternoon through Sunday evening...

* tidal overflow... minor tidal overflow is possible due to
astronomical high tides of 6.5 to 6.8 ft this evening and again
Sunday evening between 8 and 9 PM.

* Surf... elevated surf of 3 to 5 ft on southwest facing beaches
will create strong rip currents and dangerous swimming
conditions.

* Impacts... minor tidal overflows and beach erosion could bring
standing water to beach and Harbor areas, including parking lots
and adjacent access roads that normally do not experience
overflows during high tide. Strong rip currents will create
dangerous swimming conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong
rip currents... elevated surf heights... minor tidal overflow... or
lightning are possible at local beaches. Obey posted warning
signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use
caution when in or near the water and always swim near a
lifeguard.
