Special Statement
Issued: 6:28 AM AKDT Aug. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Periods of heavy rain today through Tuesday afternoon...

A weather front will move onshore today and cause periods of
heavy rain. A wave along the frontal boundary will result in
slightly diminished rain rates over the southern Inner Channels
Monday afternoon but an increase for Prince of Wales Island and
the Petersburg and Wrangell area. Heavier rain bands will return
to the far south and Ketchikan areas tonight. Another front will
keep rain heavy through the area through Tuesday morning.
Forecast storm totals Monday through Tuesday range from 2 to 5
inches near sea level and 5 to 9 inches over higher terrain.

Rivers, creeks, and streams have shown rises but no flooding is
expected at this time. Ponding of water may occur on roads and
flat areas.
