Issued: 2:27 PM AKDT Aug. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight to
midnight akdt Tuesday night...

* location... from Cape Espenberg west to the Bering Strait.

* Waves and surf... building to 6 to 9 feet offshore and breaking
nearshore with runup well above the normal high tide line.

* Timing... west to northwest increasing tonight through Tuesday
morning to 20 to 30 mph. Seas will build through the night with
peak wave height around noon on Tuesday.

* Impacts... waves breaking near shore and runup will create
dangerous conditions. Some minor erosion is possible.
Residents should move boats away from the beach if possible
and secure loose items.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that localized beach erosion is
expected. Precautions should be taken to protect property.
